Men’s Resources

Most of us associate cosmetic surgery with the female sex.  In fact, there are just as many men who are dissatisfied with the way their bodies look, whether it be their “spare tire”, face, torso, arms or thighs.

All the surgery we perform in our practice, with the exception of certain types of breast surgery, is equally applicable to men and women.  There is only one type of cosmetic surgery that we perform solely for men, namely gynecomastia correction.

As regards facial cosmetic surgery, there are some basic anatomic and physiologic differences in male patients:

· A different hair pattern

· The presence of a beard

· Increased potential for bleeding

· Slightly more pronounced swelling

· Higher incidence of haematoma.

The beard pattern will change after facial cosmetic surgery. The sideburns may become narrower and the beard may be elevated into the area behind the ear, necessitating shaving in this area.
